I'd like to become a member. What do I need to do?
All you need to do is complete the secure online form and select your payment option.
What do I need to know before completing an application for membership?
The membership application form will require you to fill in your name, contact details and employment information. You will also need to have your bank account number or credit/debit card available to set up your subscription payments.
After I’ve sent the membership form is there anything else I need to do?
No. Once you have submitted the online application form, you will receive an initial email acknowledgement. Once your application has been processed you should receive an email NZEI Te Riu Roa within 10 working days.
If you are an existing member paying subscriptions by salary deduction NZEI Te Riu Roa will also contact your payroll and request the cancellation of deductions before activating your direct debit.
Subscription cost
A tool to determine the amount of the subscription by direct debit payment can be found here [embed link: https://nzei.org.nz/NZEI/Join/Subscription_rates.aspx ]. Enter your hours of work, your hourly rate, and the sum of any allowances. The calculator spreads your income across a 52 week year, and determines the subscription payable per fortnight. Use that amount on the membership form on the join page.
I'm a student teacher can I join?
If you're studying full-time or part-time you can join for free! If you're earning a wage in a centre or school even if you're studying you have to join as a full (paying) member. Please refer to the join page for details.
