Initial Teacher Education (ITE) plays a vital role in our education system. A well-functioning ITE system is led by the profession, replenishes and refreshes the teaching workforce, and sustains the overall sector. Therefore, it’s important we get it right.

Following the strong rejection by primary teachers of the first offer for the settlement of the Primary Teachers’ Collective Agreement at recent paid union meetings, your negotiation team met urgently last week with the Ministry of Education.

The project was set up as an independent professional development programme for school principals based on the work of David Stewart and run by the Te Ariki Charitable Trust.
