Following Hui-ā-Tau 2024, the resignation period for members has been extended to one month.
In practice this will be a four week notice period, because membership payments are aligned with fortnightly salary deductions.
The extension was voted on by members at the 2024 Hui-ā-Tau annual conference as a way of enhancing solidarity and cooperation between union members.
A longer notice period also gives the union a longer period of time to engage with the resigning member and address any of the reasons they may have for resigning.
