[FAQ] Final membership/subscription payments

27 May 2024

Membership means being part of the powerful collective of education professionals who make up NZEI Te Riu Roa. If you're cancelling your membership, we’re sorry to see you go!

There is a 1 month (4 weeks) notice period once you have requested to cancel your membership. Depending on your payment method, your payments might be cancelled by NZEI Te Riu Roa, or cancellation might require action from you.

Please carefully review the information below to determine if you need to take any action to stop payments based on your payment type.

If you have any questions, email us at membership@nzei.org.nz or call us on 0800 693 443 between 8:30am and 5.00pm from Monday - Friday.

Action required by you to cancel your membership:

If you are paying through any of the following methods, there is a further step to take to stop your payments to NZEI Te Riu Roa. These payments cannot be cancelled for you.

Automatic payments from your bank account:
If you are currently paying through automatic payments from your account (regular payments which you have set up through your bank) you must cancel these payments with your bank before they stop. NZEI Te Riu Roa is unable to cancel automatic payments for you.

Payroll deductions which aren't through Edpay:
Other than Edpay deductions, NZEI Te Riu Roa is unable to cancel payroll deductions for you. Please contact your payroll officer with your membership number to arrange to stop NZEI Te Riu Roa subscription fees.

This includes payroll deductions for members directly employed by the Ministry of Education (MoE Learning Support staff) as well as any other payroll deductions which aren't facilitated by Edpay. If your payroll deductions are through Edpay, we will organise cancellation of payments for you

No further action required by you to cancel your membership:

If you are paying through any of the following methods, there is nothing further you need to do. Your payments will stop as indicated below.

Direct debit or credit card payments:

NZEI Te Riu Roa will take action to cancel your payments. Your final payment will be no later than 14 days after your notice of resignation. You may have a final payment come out within this 14-day notice period.

Payroll deductions (Edpay):

NZEI Te Riu will contact EdPay to request that they cancel any further subscription payments as soon as possible.

Depending upon their processing cycle the cancellation might not take effect before the next pay day. NZEI Te Riu Roa will endeavor to ensure your final payment will be no later than 14 days from now. However, your final payment will be dependent on EdPay’s processing schedule.

Invoice Payments:

NZEI Te Riu Roa will cancel any open invoices you currently have with us. No further payment will be required.
