About the role
NZEI Te Riu Roa is looking for a Union Advocate to join our team in the New Year. You will report to a Campaign Lead and your role will include:
- Leading the advocacy, bargaining and coordination of all aspects of collective agreements
- Leading pay equity claims
- Developing bargaining plans prior to bargaining that build member’s collective power, membership and activism
- Briefing negotiation teams and member leadership groups involved in advocacy work
- Providing oversight of the implementation of agreements and lead processes (such as working groups) that take place between negotiation rounds
- Establishing and maintaining great working relationships with stakeholder groups
Skills and experience
- You can demonstrate strong strategic analysis and planning skills
- Understanding organising and campaigning unions
- Knowledge, experiences and understanding of collective agreements
- Bargaining or negotiation experience with strong verbal and written communication skills
